Enhancing Resources and Increasing Capacities of Poor Households towards Elimination of their Poverty

Vision:

To create an enabling environment for the poor to achieve a humanly dignified living standard and enjoy universal human rights.

The Overall Goal:

To ensuring human dignity and freedom by gradually reducing poverty in a sustainable manner, towards total elimination of poverty and beyond poverty in a sustainable development at the household level.

The Specific objectives:

  • To Attain total development of each household as well as the whole community participating in ENRICH.
  • To Empower the poor households through capacity building To Ensure human dignity for all.
  • To Facilitate the best utilization of the existing capabilities and resources of the poor households and to help enhance both their capabilities and resources in order to enable them to come out poverty and move ahead towards a life of human dignity.

Under the “Somriddhi” program, various types of programs have been undertaken to eliminate targeted poverty and overall development of the people of Rongon Union in Phulpur. The currently ongoing programs are as follows:

A) Health services and nutrition related programs

B) Education programs

C) Financial assistance programs

D) Comprehensive housing construction (ensuring optimal use of homestead land)

E) Vermicomposting/compost production (alternative to chemical fertilizers)

F) Youth programs

G) Income generating programs and youth related training and employment creation

H) Programs for the development of the living standards of veteran groups.

BD Rural WASH for HCD (PKSF)

The Government of Bangladesh (GoB) intends to implement the Bangladesh Rural Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Human Capital Development Project with financial support from the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to reform institutions and improve WASH services that meet the ‘safely-managed’ services in line with SDG targets of 6.1 and 6.2. The Project Development Objectives are to: (i) improve access and quality of water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in selected areas of rural Bangladesh, and (ii) strengthen sector policy and institutional capacity. Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) will implement specific components of this project.

The Rural Karma Support Foundation (PKSF), jointly funded by the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is implementing the Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene for Human Resource Development (RWSHPH) project for the period 2021 to 2025. The Government of Bangladesh has received a total of US$ 400 million in loan assistance from the International Development Association (IDA) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) to finance this project. Under the said financing, the other implementing agency, the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), will implement specific components of the project. PKSF, through its project partners, is supporting the Government of Bangladesh in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 (Water and Sanitation) by providing leadership in the installation of 1.20 lakh safe water supply systems and 10.0 lakh safe toilets at the police station level. As a partner organization of the project, Gramaus is implementing the project through 16 branches in 9 upazilas of Mymensingh district.
